Guest Stories: What a Week at Blanco Escape Actually Looks Like

Marketing copy can only say so much about what a week in Myoko is actually like. So instead, here's what past guests have said in their own words — pulled from reviews on Powder Hounds, lightly trimmed for length, otherwise unedited.

"The perfect place to stay in Myoko"

Neal — Boarder, Advanced, Spain — visited January

Blanco Escape is hands down the perfect place to stay in Myoko. It's ideally located just minutes from multiple ski resorts, with easy access to local restaurants and a nearby onsen for the perfect post-ride soak.

Keenan and Valentina are incredible hosts, super welcoming, fun, and always dialed in on where to find the best powder. Their local knowledge really takes the whole experience to another level.

"The stay in the house is magical"

Iker San Martín — Boarder, Intermediate, USA — visited February

My stay was incredible, and we also had very favorable conditions with unforgettable days of powder. Keenan guided us to the best conditions, creating new tracks every day. The stay in the house is magical, in a 100% Japanese village with every possible comfort. The attention to detail in the decor makes you truly feel immersed in the experience.

Sharing days with Keenan and Valentina on their amazing project is a blessing, with delicious meals and great stories we share throughout the day. I'm already waiting for it to start snowing so I can come back next year!

"World class pow that you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else"

Alpine skier, Advanced, Canada — visited February

Had an incredible stay with Blanco Escape! The lodging had a wonderfully traditional Japanese aesthetic, and the hosts Keenan and Valentina were amazing in every way. They went above and beyond to make my stay an unforgettable one.

Located in Myoko Kogen, it's central to a large number of ski resorts that make finding powder runs easier than ever. You'll be met with great vibes, top notch food, and world class pow that you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else.

Honest feedback, not just praise

Heather Reese — Alpine Skier, Advanced, USA — visited January

Keenan and Valentina were superb hosts and made everything feel special. They showed us great ski lines and great food, both at restaurants and in their home. The days we were there were unfortunately in between big dumps of pow but we still found some off piste lines.

I had expected more touring based on the required equipment list from 57hours, our booking agency, but wide resort skis would have been better as all the skiing was accessible by lifts.

This one's worth including precisely because it's not pure praise. It flagged a real mismatch between the equipment list a booking partner sent and what the week actually required — since resolved with 57hours, so future guests get the right packing list from the start.

"Japan did not disappoint"

William Walker — Alpine Skier, Advanced, USA — visited February

Keenan & Valen were terrific hosts and guides during my time in Myoko! We visited five different mountains, ate incredible Japanese cuisine and overall had an extraordinary time!

I traveled from Tennessee to Japan in search of the Japow and Japan did not disappoint! We had a great group from all over the world, and Keenan and Valen made sure we had everything we needed and were excellent hosts! Would highly recommend and can't wait to visit again!

What comes through across every trip

Different countries, different ability levels, different months of the season — and the same things keep showing up: the lodge itself, the local knowledge finding snow other visitors miss, and Keenan and Valentina personally making the week feel handled rather than just booked.
