Winter Retreats
Not at all. We welcome strong beginners through experts. Our guiding is flexible. Whether you want to lap resorts, duck into sidecountry stashes, or push into the backcountry, we tailor each day to match ability and conditions.
Yes — lift passes are included in the retreat price. Your guide handles everything each day based on which resort we're hitting, so you never have to worry about buying passes or figuring out ticket windows in Japanese. Just grab your coffee and chill.
Yes, all week long tours are guided. Some retreat weeks include days with JMGA-certified guides, depending on availability and conditions. All Blanco Escape retreats are designed as resort-focused experiences, and guide's vary by trip type.
The easiest route is the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Myoko Kogen via Joetsu-Myoko Station — about 2.5 to 3 hours total. We send all guests a detailed travel guide after booking.
We understand plans change. Cancellations made 60+ days before your retreat date receive a full refund minus a $250 admin fee. Cancellations 30–59 days out receive a 50% refund. Within 30 days, we're unable to offer refunds, but you can transfer your spot to someone else. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers trip cancellation.
Daily western style breakfasts, three chef dinners (think wagyu steak, seasonal Niigata vegetables, and natural wine pairings), plus nights out exploring the best izakayas and ramen shops in town. We can accommodate dietary restrictions with advance notice.
Almost everything. Your guided riding, lodging, breakfasts, three private dinners, natural Japanese wines, onsen visits, cultural outings. All transportation is complimentary.
Yes, we can assist you with renting high-quality ski or snowboard equipment locally. Let us know in advance, and we’ll ensure everything is ready for your arrival.
Yes, we offer private retreats for groups or families. These can be customized to include exclusive guiding, private accommodations, and tailored experiences.
Absolutely! Non-skiers can enjoy cultural outings, onsen visits, local cuisine, and exploring the charming town of Myoko. We can tailor activities to suit your interests.
The best time to visit Myoko Kogen is during the winter season, from December to March, when the region experiences its famous heavy snowfall and offers excellent skiing and snowboarding conditions.
We recommend packing warm, waterproof clothing, ski or snowboard gear (if you have your own), casual wear for evenings, and swimwear for onsen visits. A detailed packing list will be provided after booking.
