Our Story: A Love Letter to Myoko

Sometimes you don’t plan to fall in love with a place, it just happens.

Valentina is from Chile, where she grew up by the ocean and learned to surf. The water has always been central to her life, shaping her love for movement, nature, and travel. Keenan grew up between San Francisco and Portland, spending his time fly fishing rivers, snowboarding in the mountains, and surfing the Pacific. From early on, we both felt connected to the water and the outdoors in every form.

What was meant to be a surf trip for Keenan turned into something else entirely, he stayed and we built a life together. Hawai‘i became our home base, and not long after, we got married. Since then, our life has been full of travel countless adventures chasing waves, snow, and everything in between.

That path eventually brought us to Myoko. We first came for the snow, like many do, but what we found was something deeper. Myoko became more than just a destination, it became a dream. That dream turned into Blanco Escape, a retreat we built to share the experience with others.

Our retreats bring together everything we value. and whether you’re here for adventure or for a quieter pace, our goal is to make sure you feel comfortable, cared for, and fully immersed in this part of the Japanese Alps we fell in love with.
